Roberto Ignacio Echeverria
CEO and Chief Winemaker

Roberto Ignacio Echeverria, CEO and Chief WinemakerRoberto was born in 1970 in the USA and lived with his family in Maryland until 1976 when they moved back to Chile.

Back in Chile, he studied at the American school Santiago College and continued his university studies with the clear objective of learning winemaking and business skills to continue with the family tradition. In 1995 he graduated with maximum distinction as an Industrial Engineer, with a major in Chemistry. At the same time, he finished his studies in Oenology in the Universidad Católica. In 2004 Roberto acquired his MBA qualification.

Roberto has worked as Production Manager and Chief Winemaker in Viña Echeverría for more than 15 years. With an endless interest in learning and understanding the consumer, Roberto has visited many wine regions in France, Australia, South Africa, Portugal, Argentina and Germany, and has learnt a great deal about the preferences of our customers by travelling all over the world visiting most of our 40 markets. Since 2009 he has assumed the leadership of the family business as CEO. Roberto is currently very active working to consolidate Viña Echeverría as one of Chile’s leading wineries appreciated worldwide for the value and consistency of its wines, as well as its customer service.

Roberto’s major passion is wine, and, like his family members, has an endless commitment to producing wines of excellence. In his spare time, he enjoys his family: his wife Julia and his 3 children, Tomás, Vicente and Xanti. He also enjoys people, good food, nature and sports (especially football).
